Our newest addition, “Wise Words Wednesday” will feature tidbits of wisdom from both footballers and managers alike. Look for clips of training sessions, various activities that you can take away from the professionals, and exercises in general that enthusiasts can use in their own training sessions. These will be especially useful for coaches or trainers, but there’s something here for everyone! To kick it off, we salute Bayern Munich and their destruction of Roma at the Eternal City. In this training clip, they play a little game called “Bucket Ball”. Bucket Ball is a relay game, with six players on a team. Three players start on each side, with one playing a long ball to a group of three to start. The group of three who started with the kickoff do various plyometric exercises as they move to the other side, while the ones receiving the pass have to maintain the ball in the air and put it in the trash bucket without it dropping. After that, the group who juggled across plays the long pass and the cycle continues. Whichever group has the most balls in the bucket after the specified time wins!
