Jesé Rodriguez has had some tough luck. Once touted as the next best thing out of Real Madrid’s cantera, a horrible knee injury has derailed the meteoric progress of the Las Palmas-born 22-year-old. Every tunnel has a shaft of light however, and Jesé is back in the Madrid squad, having scored 3 goals since his return to fitness.

With a strong possibility of featuring against Atlético Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League Quarter-Final tie, things are looking up for the young attacker. Prodigiously skilled, explosive with that telltale sprinkle of fairy dust in his boots, pieces of magic like this airborne “flip-flap” in training are why Real Madrid supporters are salivating at the prospect of another great young Spanish player stepping into the Bernabeu spotlight.
