Thursday is here, and with it comes another new feature on the site: Throwback Thursday. Old-school photos, videos and reminiscences to bring you back to the days you spent in front of your old-school rear-projection television threatening your younger brother with violence if he didn’t hold the bunny ears just right so the screen stayed clear. All that and more on this space. YOU’RE GONNA LOVE IT.

To kick us off, we’re going with one of my favorite ever advert, featuring my favorite brand, my favorite ever player and possibly my favorite ever national team collective: Nike’s Brazil Airport commercial.

Just about everything in this commercial is perfect. Bored Brazilian players in an airport? Check. Denilson making LITERALLY everyone and their mother look foolish? Check. Roberto Carlos striking the ball unnecessarily hard? Check. Eric Cantona? Check. Dope-ass old-school Nike gear in the beautiful Brazilian national team colors? Oh yes. Then,to put the icing on the cake, there’s O Fenômeno Ronaldo Luiz Nazario de Lima sent through on “goal” only to strike the post to the chagrin of the expectant airport crowd.

It’s flawless.
