In a very interesting move into the US market, FC Barcelona has partnered with Charlotte-based ISL Futbol to bring the Blaugrana values and methodologies to the States. In the form of 5-day camps, including goalkeeper training, FCB extends their influence even further into the States. With the expertise of perhaps the best technical trainers in the world, it’ll be interesting to see the effect on the grassroots movement in the United States. The school is further explain in a press release on their website:

The club has started an ambitious project giving the opportunity to thousands of American boys and girls to learn the Barça style. This expansion will be led by the Charlotte-based group, ISL Futbol, in partnership with FCBEscola. “We are delighted to be a part of one of the fastest growing soccer communities in America and we believe it will have a big impact on player’s development” said FCBEscola Director Xavier Marcé.

FC Barcelona has presence in nine cities across the country and will start further growth with camps in North Carolina, Virginia, and Ohio this summer. Coaches from FC Barcelona will travel exclusively to teach the same methodologies that players such as Messi, Xavi, and Iniesta emerged from. Participants will be exposed to the unique FC Barcelona style of play, while learning values and global aptitudes through soccer.

Though surely a brilliant way to tap into the US’s growing soccer obsession, this move could also pay off for US youngsters eager to earn their ticket overseas á la Ben Lederman. Only time will tell.
