It was difficult to pinpoint one play that should win the award, but two plays in a game that I attended live jumped into mind that should be celebrated equally. In an exciting 10 goal match, DC United’s Taylor Kemp and Nick DeLeon scored goals that will certainly be in the MLS Goal of the Year discussion. Former Maryland Terrapin fullback, Kemp latched onto RSL clearance and placed his left-footed volley into the upper corner of Jeff Attinella’s goal.
Nick DeLeon did one better. With United holding onto a 5-4 lead, the right midfielder picked up the ball, cut into his left foot beating Salt Lake’s Luis Gil in the process and rocketing a left-footed strike which cemented three points and their hold on the lead of the Eastern Conference.
