Even in a losing effort against Manchester United, Christian Benteke has scored the goal of the season so far. The Belgium striker received a cross late in the second half and connected on a bicycle kick which beat the David De Gea to cutthe deficit down to 2-1. United’s Anthony Martial took over the headlines with the match clinching goal to give LVG’s side a 3-1 advantage and the three points, but it does seem that Brendan Rodgers has found a striker he can trust in Benteke. If Daniel Sturridge can get (and stay) healthy for an extended amount of time, Rodgers can possibly stave off the calls for his head and save his job.
