This week’s play of the week goes to Carli Lloyd for her half-field strike to give the U.S. Women’s National Team a 4-0 lead and a 13 minute hat-trick. The central midfielder picked up the ball close to midfield, saw the keeper caught out of her goal, and placed a perfect lob over the keeper. The New Jersey native was incredible over the course of the knockout rounds that she won the Golden Ball as player of the tournament, and led the US to their third World Cup title (first since 1999). Congratulations to her and all the ladies who played their part in the successful run to another title.
