There were a decent number of exceptional plays made during this busy holiday schedule but Hugo Lloris’ save against Ashley Young takes the cake. The Manchester United wingback drives down the left hand side, cuts inside, and looks for his patented right footed curler into the top corner. Unfortunately for Young, Tottenham’s French keeper made an acrobatic save to keep him out of the net. It was a battle of two of the best keepers in the Premier League, with both standing up to the challenge of lethal offenses. De Gea using his great feet, sure hands and supreme positioning to make saves look simple, Lloris kept United at bay with his great athleticism to keep the opposition out of the net.

Since this is the season for giving, there will be a bonus play of the week and it features youth players from La Liga Promises International Tournament. This is an u-12 event with four Spanish academy teams and four squads from abroad. Valencia CF and Atlético Madrid met in the finals, with Valencia taking the cup through a 2-1 victory. This was the first of Los Che’s two goals, the fullback drove down the line and found the #9 who confidently headed home the match’s first goal.

Speaking on behalf of the TS1 community, I hope everyone has a Happy New Year and be safe.
